Kdramas similar to King The Land

Kdrama King The Land has ended but there are some who are rewatching it and some who are getting the clips in their recommendations are watching it as well.

But why, well though the Kdrama doesn’t have a different plot, as in it’s the same rich boy poor girl theme.

But as I said before, the theme can be the same, the actors can also be the same but it’s always different in picturization, dialogues and expression.

So, let’s take a review of other kdramas similar to King The Land and let you know what I mean.

First, let’s review King The Land.

King The Land (Aired June 17, 2023 to August 6, 2023)

Cast: Lee Jun Ho & Im Yoon Ah

Rating: 4.8 (IMDB) & 8.3 (mydramalist)

Genre: Romance, Comedy

Number of episodes: 16

Lee Jun plays Heir Goo Won who doesn’t like fake smiles and Im Yoon plays Cheon Sa Rang who smiles 24×7. And she looks so sweet every time she comes on screen with her smile.

Ok, I didn’t watch it from ep.1 to the last episode as it aired as I was watching others. But on competition, I did complete watching and though it didn’t get much ratings, personally I’ll give 10/10.

Acting, comedy punch lines, the jealousy, the expressions….A+.

Not gonna watch, well it’s your loss.

1. A Business Proposal (2022)

Cast: Ahn Hyo Seop, Kim Se Jeong, Kim Min Gue & Seol In Ah

Rating: 8.1 (IMDB) & 8.7 (mydramalist)

Review of My Business Proposal

If we speak about rich boy-poor girl themes then Business Proposal is definitely on the list. The lead Shin Ha Ri is a single woman who has a crush but backs off as she finds out he has a girlfriend. She then takes the place of her chaebol friend for a blind date as she’s not interested. The blind date turns out to be her boss. The story begins.

Here the female lead hides at first and tries to back out and the male lead was not actually supposed to meet her, like ever.

It’s more romance filled and comedy is a side-line of the story. The story basically revolves around how she manages to win his family’s heart, especially his grandfather.

2. What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (2018)

Cast: Park Seo Joon & Park Min Young.

Rating: 8.1 (IMDB) & 8.5 (mydramalist)

Review of What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim

Lee Young Joon is the vice president of the company and Kim Mi So has been by his side as his secretary for nine years.

For 9 years, Kim has had no love relationship and now she wants to live her life and decides to resign. Ensues the break of the once strict work relations and begins the love confession chase.

The kdrama also deals with trauma, phobia, and a tragic childhood past the lead couple share. So, it’s not all romance and again the picturization and dialogues and mainly the expressions are different.

3. The King 2 Hearts (2012)

Cast: Lee Seung Gi, Ha Ji Won, Jo Jung Suk, Lee Yoon Hi

Rating: 7.6 (IMDB) & 8.2 (mydramalist)

Review of King2Heart

The lead male is the prince of South Korea monarchy while the female lead is the legendary female instructor of the elite special forces unit of North Korea.

Obviously, with North and South as base, it’s an enemy to lover theme. Male is a rich prince while the female is an officer.

Based around military and war, the leads get bethorted to each other for peace. It’s totally different in terms of expressing and dialogues.

4. Stairway To Heaven (2003)

Cast: Kwon Sang Woo, Choi Ji Woo, Shin Hyun Joon & Kim Tae Hee

Rating: 7.8 (IMDB) & 7.9 (mydramalist)

Review of Stairway To Heaven

Personally, unless it’s a true story, I don’t like sad endings so this is a minus for me in the kdrama as the female lead dies and 5 years later the male lead says to wait as he’ll be joining her in heaven.

Emotional side, when Tae Hwa suicides so his corneas can be donated to Jung Seo to repent for the sins his sister inflicted on Jung Seo. Love prevailing over all obstacles, is proved again as the moment Sang Woo realizes his love is still alive, he goes back. Likewise Jung Seo also finds her first love the moment she remembers him.

Overall, you should watch it once cause even if she dies, she does live with her love.

5. Save The Last Dance (2005)

Cast: Ji Sung & Eugene

Rating: 7.6 (IMDB) & 7.7 (mydramalist)

Review of Save The Last Dance

Another kdrama that dates way back, but oldies are classic. Ji Sung is like wine, the older the more handsome. To be honest I first saw him in Kill Me Heal Me (2015) in 2018, and since then he’s my favorite.

As for the kdrama review, his acting is 10/10. The lead actress expressed her feelings perfectly.

Lesson: If you encounter such an incident as the lead female did, do tell your loved one. At least if he or she leaves, then you know they don’t deserve you and if they stay, then you don’t live in memories but live with new memories.

6. The Heirs (2013)

Cast: Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye, & Kim Woo Bin

Rating: 7.5 (IMDB) & 7.6 (mydramalist)

Review of The Heirs

The Heirs is your typical rich boy-poor girl theme plot. Kim Tan is a rich heir to an Empire while Cha Eun Sang is the daughter of his housekeeper. Lee Min Ho needs no clarification regarding his skills and his fans must have seen it trillion times. But if you are not and have not seen it, you should give it a go.

For those who like watching Cdrama, you might find the story same to Billion Dollar Heir. Yes, the plot is the same and most of the scenes might look familiar but both have their fan flow. And both are good in their own place.

7. My Secret Romance (2017)

Cast: Sung Hoon, Song Ji Eun, Kim Jae Young & Jung Da Sol

Rating: 7.1 (IMDB) & 7.6 (mydramalist)

Review of My Secret Romance

13 episodes are a crime to me. The kdrama should have had more. Just as you begin to enjoy the kdrama, it comes to an end. For me regarding Sung Hoon, I have a list of Kdramas I have watched…love his acting.

As for the kdrama, well it’s a wonderful romcom combination and if you have any doubts like the male lead, do watch it and you will also begin to believe in true love.

8. Hotel King (2014)

Cast: Lee Dong Wook, Lee Da Hae, im Seul Ong & Wang Ji Hye

Rating: 7.1 (IMDB) & 7.7 (mydramalist)

Review of Hotel King

The difference – female lead is the rich lady and male lead is the manager. Difference – Not much comedy as it’s basically a romance melodrama, but has the hotel setting and has a possessive male lead who pursues the female.

Lee Dong Wook and Lee Da Hae have a great chemistry in the kdrama. As for the Kdrama in itself – it’s an ICONIC Kdrama, don’t miss it!
